Youth Development - Boys & Girls Club

The Boys & Girls Club is an afterschool youth development facility about four blocks from the BSU campus that is virtually free to all youth. In Bemidji, we typically serve 160 youth per day with about 60% elementary and 40% middle school/high school in a high energy environment. Our goal is to help youth become productive, caring and responsible citizens through offering them a fun place to go that is safe, where there are supportive adults who offer a diverse range of opportunities as well as set expectations for success and recognize youth for their achievements large or small.

Youth Development Professional staff work directly with our members in various capacities at a ratio of about 1 staff per 15 members. Position is a wonderful and great training ground for college students majoring in psychology, teaching, social work, criminal justice, nursing and and whom wish to work with youth.

Various positions exist with different age groups so a variety of individuals with different skills sets are wanted. Specific areas include:

Environmental Science
Gardening
Academics & Tutoring
Life skills
Member Services
Nutrition

Requirements:
   A background check is a pre-requisite for employment. Preferred skills in an applicant include: Enthusiastic, flexible, creative, caring, ability to positively discipline, patience, level headed, and consistent. Students with expertise in any or all of the above areas are also needed. Students would be expected to work approximately 8-12 hours a week between the hours of 2:20p.m.-7:30p.m. M-F
